May Newsletter

Dear Quilter,

Wow!  I can't believe the wonderful response for my first question about my next free BOM.  It was so much fun to watch the votes come in.  Just to review.  I asked what size quilt you would like for the next free BOM.  All sizes got votes.  But very early on it became apparent that you were wanting a small quilt.  At the end, there were just two votes separating the count for the wall hanging and the throw.  They were so close that I decided the next free BOM would be suitable as a wall hanging OR a throw.
I've also decided to re-think the theme.  I think I had told you that it would either be flowers or critters.  That seems to be much too limiting.  So I've decided to expand the selection of themes for you this month.  I'm also going to ask you to select the style.

First let's select a theme.  Here are nine possible themes.  They are identified with a letter.

          a. Flowers
          b. Critters
          c. Christmas
          d. Spring
          e. Halloween
          f. 4th of July
          g. Thanksgiving/Fall
          h. Kitchen (utensils, fruit, vegetables)
           i. Sewing paraphernalia

It is very easy to vote for your choice.  You will vote by telling me which letter you would prefer for the associated theme.
To vote please click on the link.  It should open an e-mail addressed to me.  Please put your letter in the subject line.  If you do this, I won't have to open your e-mail.  It makes my task of tallying the votes much, much easier.  Thank you so much.   Click here:  abqhaidle@mchsi.com

Next you will select a style.  I have drawn up 3 different quilts.  Scroll down below to view these styles.  Sizes are approximate.  They are identified with a number.  Look them over and select the one that you would like the most.

          1. Row by Row (39" x 40")
          2. 13 Blocks On Point with 8" blocks (40" x 40")
          3. Round Robin - 16" center (65" square finished)

Select one style.  You will vote by telling me which number you would prefer for the associated theme.
To vote please click on the link.  It should open an e-mail addressed to me.   Please put your number in the subject line.  Yes, you are voting twice.  Once for a theme and once for a style.  Each vote is in a separate e-mail.  Please do not combine your vote for the theme and style in the same e-mail.  I will have to throw out your vote if you do.  Thank you so much.   Click here to vote for your style:   abqhaidle@mchsi.com

 Karen's Gingerbread Florals - Block 5 - Free BOM

Water Lily

I love water lilies.  I don't see them often but when I do I find them fascinating and lovely.  This month's block is a single water lily.  These beautiful flowers come in a variety of colors.  I often think of white but we really shouldn't limit ourselves to that.

All the same and yet so different.  Have fun with your color choices for this month's block, we did.
Karen's block is to the left.  Georgie's block is to the right.  Karen has her whole quilt done and quilted.  It is hanging in the Mended Hearts Quilt shop in Ellsworth, Iowa.  If you are driving by, why not stop and see it.
I'm proud to report that I have all the applique done on this quilt and am ready to set the squares together.  Hope to get it quilted in July.

Happy Quilting,

Connie Sue
